If you’re after a game on your iPhone, which helps with your spelling, and improves your lexicon, WordsWorth is the one for you.

Similar to many other word scramble games like Wordabble, the aim is to search through a field of letters to find words.

Just like the days in school when you used to frantically run your eyes over a sheet of letters in the weekly English class challenge, WordsWorth will require the same skills, only that it is through a honeycomb setting where the words are hidden.

You play in stages where you earn points for each word found and, when you have gained enough points, you then move on to the next level.

To get points or a word, you can either tap your finger on the letters one by one, or just run your finger over the letters in quick succession.

Occasionally during the game you will find special tiles which give you extra points or act as a wild card, which means it can be used as any letter.

There is also a ‘buzzword’ at the bottom of the screen an if you can spell that, then you will also receive a handy points pay out.
Fans of word games like Scrabble and Chain letter will love this release. It is a great game to play during a long wait, or just kicking back at home.

A great part of the game is that it lets you choose form three different word dictionaries to avoid dispute or conflict over whether or not a word is legal.

For under a dollar, WordsWorth is a great buy, and one that will make you feel smarter too.

Who would have thought a game like Ace Combat would find its way to the little screens of our iPhone’s? Well, not me….

Its hard to think that a game which requires such accurate and precise skill in finger movement, and a steady eye to maneuvere and shoot moving targets, would be possible to play on the Apple iPhone.

However, the good news is that it is not that bad, and the doubts I may have had on how to hell to play the game without a remote, have been put to bed.

Game developer Namco Bandai has done an excellent work in making it so simple to fly and shoot down enemies.

To control the game and the flight movements, users must tilt the iPhone while all other controls like throttle, selecting and firing weapons are all available using the icons on the screen.

Many reviews are positive thus far, with many users stating they have been rather impressed with the games translation from console to mobile phone.

A demo version of the game is available right now, but the full download will not be out until later this year.

Ace Combat Xi is one of the many console games making the move to the iPhone.

In recent months we have seen FIFA 10 and Rock Band make the move, but no one would have thought a game Ace Combat this would have successfully made the jump, until now.

Bulletin is an online iPhone application that keeps you up to date on all of your RSS feeds through Google Reader. It comes with offline browsing, plus sharing options for Twitter, Delicious and Facebook.

Users can keep up to date with all their favourite blogs, news websites and social networking pages with the ease of this $1.99 application.

The app, however, does require users to download a Google Reader account, which you can get at google.com/reader.

Bulletin is one of the better-feed readers on the iPhone market and integrates well with the Google software. It allows sharing to multiple services much easier than the Google mobile page.

It also allows offline reading and is one of the few readers that display items shared by people you follow.

One of the few faults of the application is a bug where feeds which are not assigned to folders cause the app to either not sync all items, or report incorrect unread counts.

The bug has apparently been reported to Apple for approval to fix the problem but in the meantime, you can add all feeds to a temporary folder to resolve the issue.

The application shares well with Twitter and works well with most online websites and functions with very few technical difficulties.

Bulletin has been receiving positive reviews in its short time on the market and for just under to dollars, it is an efficient news feed for mobile phone users.

For all those soccer fanatics who can’t wait to get home to play their roommates in yet another epic FIFA match, here is some good news.

iPhone users can now get the latest soccer game, FIFA 10, on their handset for only $9.99.

Developers EA Sports have made a version compatible with the apple mobile phone, and created a much better soccer game than Real Football 2010 and X2 Football, both previously released on the iPhone.

Most of the features of the console version are available on the iPhone including, Manager version, Penalty, Training, Be-A-Pro and multiplayer options. Tournaments are also available on the game.

The gaming control is with the help of a virtual analog stick which is 8-directional. You can pass or shoot with the help of two buttons, as it is in the console version.

The one problem with he iPhone version is that the commentary and audio functions are not exemplary. However, with four levels of difficulty, it should be challenging enough for most gaming pros.

There is also a local Wi-Fi multiplayer mode for iPhone users to play among themselves.

Current reviews for the application have all been positive, as expected from such a successful video game release.

FIFA is regarded as one of the most popular sporting video games, and one which can be enjoyed by any demographic, and in any social setting.

The cult status of the game has seen it hold its own World Championship Tournaments as well as local and international events.

Now, lovers of the game are able to have the latest version of FIFA on their handsets, for a tenth of its price in the stores.

CalcConv is the perfect application for any individual who has a passion for calculating and converting.

While at first glance CalConv appears to be nothing more than a basic calculator, much more is revealed upon closer inspection.

Created by the folk at Mobillissimo, the application converts everything from temperature, to acceleration to taxes.

It is a great tool for anyone to have, it includes currency exchange, sales markups or markdowns, cooking, volume and length. There are 25 categories which cater for almost every day to day necessity.

If you are planning on traveling and need to convert currency rates, CalcCov will save you, if you find it hard converting your meters to feet, the app is also great.

On first use, you may have a bit of a problem with changing the units, but an update quickly took care of that. Now there are very distinguishing up/down arrows in each corner and a nice big space in the top middle for changing conversion units.

RPN allows more efficient data entry and the feature is available in CalcConv, making it an efficient and reliable application.

That aside, I had another conversion application before this. It quickly lost its spot to Mobilissimo’s CalcCon.

The application sells for 99 cents and is one you will be sure to use regularly, given you remember you have it!

Enter Pathways: a puzzle app with a difference, one which allows for personality as well as brain teasing games.

Pathways introduces you to two faces as you play out the story of Tommy and Eddie, the young BFFs who get separated when Eddie sees a strange hole in the ground and insists on diving into it head first.

Your mission is to guide Tommy through a long series of confusing “pathways” as he forges ahead in his journey to save Eddie from the clutches of an evil villain who looks something like The Grim Reaper and has a taste for Orange Chicken.

The pathways contain tiles that disappear as Tommy moves across them, so you have to be careful of how you navigate the mazes.

Some tiles need to be crossed several times before they disappear, and there are also sliding tiles, natural obstacles, and more holes along the way that complicate things.

As you navigate through the pathways you’ll catch glimpses of Eddie and his evil captor, and there’s even some campy dialogue thrown in to drive the “story” that you’re playing out.

For $4.99, Pathways is a decent application for the price, offering up to nearly 100 stages.

So, if your looking for a puzzle game with a difference, and one that offers some personality as well as fun, pathways is a good choice.

If you’re sick of being a victim of god’s unpredictable behaviour, then put control into your own hands with the iPhone application, Pocket God.

Designed by Bolt Creative, the application is all about you – god – and what you choose to do to your own little island.

As god, you have the powers to cause massive amounts of destruction and devastation to you piece of land.

In Pocket God you can explore multiple ways of tormenting your cute little islanders.

Toss a couple in the volcano, fry one with a bolt of lightening, or tilt your iPhone and watch them slide right into the ocean. If you run out of islanders, simply add some more and continue at will.

The game never ends and is a perfect way to get rid of all that frustration in your life by killing of thousands of fake islanders at the touch of a screen.

Naturally, the game begins to get stale after a while, especially after you have exhausted every torturous act in your artillery.

After a while, the reactions are the same and the concept of the game begins to get a bit boring.

But, having said that, it is pretty damn fun and entertaining for the first few uses and for that reason alone it is well worth the download.

It’s not everyday you get to act as god, and even while it may be through the screen of an iPhone, it is still pretty cool.

Pocket God is available now for free download on your iPhone handset.

If you run your own bar, or just like to show off to the opposite sex about your drink knowledge, then Pocket Cocktails is just the application for you.

Available on your iPhone now for free, after launching for $4.99 about a year ago, the application is basically a bible of mixing drinks.

It contains a massive list of everyone’s favourite and undiscovered drinks and includes nice big photos of every mix plus each drink’s ingredient list and recipe for putting the cocktails together.

The app is created by Robert Maran and Deidra Jones, drinking experts by their own rights, and has organised cocktails into eight categories:
• Martinis
• Summer
• Creamy
• Warmers
• Classics
• Tropical
• Shooters
• Mocktails

A great feature of the application is the search function. You can search by name of drink and also by ingredients.

Meaning, if you are in the mood for a drink with a taste of coconut, then search for the ingredient and enjoy the list of matching drinks.
Or, if you can’t remember the name of a drink but can remember the taste of it, conduct a search and you could be lucky enough to find it.

Not to be outdone, the graphics and layout of Pocket Cocktails is fantastic and really easy to use. There are great sound effects and some funny little images that all tie-in perfectly with the boozy theme.

Pocket Cocktails is a highly recommended or any drinking lover, or wannabe bar-tender.

With the graphical capabilities of the iPhone, many gaming developers are looking at the handset as a whole new market to sell their successful video games through applications.

But while the list of technical and complicated games available on the iPhone continues to grow, there are still a bunch of awesome, simple, quick and easy to use applications, which are just what iPhone users are after.

Box of Sox is one of these.

The thing I like most about the game is that it is the perfect game to play while trying to kill a few minutes. It is the perfect game to give to your child to keep them occupied, and it is the perfect game to play if you just want to relax and let a game wash over you.

The game is simple -- socks are tumbling out of a dryer and it is your job to match up the pairs.

There’s a set of five up at the top that need to be found and grouped before you can move on to the next level.

Socks slowly pile up on the floor and you can only advance to the next level when all the spots are filled.

Box of Sox really is a simple game, but a simple game, which is quite enjoyable.

Without a doubt, one of the most impressive features of the game is the graphics.

Instead of jagged pixels, you get crisp vector art, which ups the quality of the whole game. The diversity and designs of the socks are truly remarkable for a game like this.

While the game will not be taking any award for best app of the year, it is a really cool buy for only 99 cents.
